Curio Studio Handmade Artic Tern
Curio Studio Handmade Artic Tern
Description:
The Arctic tern is one of an ongoing series of birds made from contrasting hardwoods. It's made from sycamore and wenge, and sits on a cherry perch. The wenge is reclaimed from the old restaurant floor at the National Theatre in London. The perch is shaped to allow the tern to nestle in a variety of poses.
Finishing oil finish. Best kept out of direct sunlight to avoid light bleaching.
Dimensions: 95mm (h) on perch x 40mm (w)
About the maker:
Curio Studio was started by Tom Wilson, a practicing architect, in 2013. It was born out of a desire to practice a more complete creating process, enabling design and making to inform one another, in a way that they can only do when the designer is the maker.
Chosen materials are natural, responsibly sourced and will often become more beautiful with age and use. I aspire to make objects that are considered, original and of heirloom quality. Tom is based in Bristol.
