Emma Westmacott Medium Stacked Porcelain Vase
Description:
Medium handmade porcelain vase in a stacked design.
Measuring: 15cm x 9cm (widest point)
About the maker:
Emma Westmacott is a ceramicist specialising in porcelain since 2011.
She has a passion for the beautiful ‘béton brut’ concrete formwork surfaces seen in Brutalist architecture and this concept, along with the truth to form and materials in the buildings, are what influence her work. She explores new ways of creating textural surfaces which, in her most recent work, combines with a simple vase form to emphasise the contrast.
Emma's current work revolves around a slip-casting method that she developed during her Master’s degree. Moulds are cast in layers which allows her to reconfigure and interchange them to create unique, distinct pieces. Mould sections are strapped together precariously, and it is often difficult to get the materials to cooperate.
