Sally Imbert - One Tiny Thing - a painting a day for a year

3 copy.png

Sally Imbert made a commitment as an artist to make one small creative act every day for a year and share it on her social media, (Instagram @sallydove).

Firstly, to re-engage with her lost feelings, to rediscover what she loved & make herself paint & draw. Secondly, to force herself right out of her comfort zone, by putting it out into the world.

Sally painted whilst roaming around her locality, in mist, snow, 7 types of rain, biting cold, blazing sun, at dawn & dusk, & all times in between. On her way to work & back, she took detours & painted in other peoples’ houses. She climbed hills she had only wondered about before, encountering deers, cows, dogs & birds. Over tors, coastlines, bluebell woods and buzzing meadows.

Through 4 seasons, 22 paintbrushes, 5 sketchbooks, 37 twilights, 9 sheds, 1 major breakup & 12 migraines, she painted. They are a visual diary of artistic practice, reconnecting with life, recalibrating her senses, the process being the goal; 365 days of art in one life.

This show reveals what emerged in her work & what a committed focus added by changing just one tiny thing. Sally shared everything, the ‘mistakes' & the triumphs all being part of her wandering. An artist’s response to living life from the heart, Sally Imbert’s year in pictures; the fruits of which are shown here at Flux.
